Ebay item - VFA badges framed

I noticed this on ebay (no its not me selling it!)

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VFA-FOOTBALL-PATCHES-FRAMED-COMPLETE-SET-VERY-RAR...

There were a couple of other interesting items include those old metallic reflective car stickers..

Thos badges look like the ones you got George.. I reckon you got a bargain judging by the price these framed ones are going for.

$875 - If only i had the cash now!

Wouldn't mind buying that and donating it to the Port Melbourne Footy Club, to put in the social rooms.

Its an interesting piece - it has the badges for 23 of the 24 teams that were playing when they came out (about 1983), and is missing Berwick.
I saw a photo of this in a local paper about 4 years ago.

VFA will know this better than me, but I thought Northcote only ever wore green with a gold yolk (ie Melbourne style) before changing to stripes in 1975. However, Tony Cannatteli's excellent "VFA Football Trivia" book has a 1950 photo of Northcote playing with what looks like a V, but different to the above jumper. It also has a photo from 1957 when it was back to a yolk.
Certainly pre 1950's cigeratte cards show Northcote players in green jumper with a gold yolk. And they were definitely gold yolk in the 1970's as I recall seeing them play in the lightning premiership.

Spotswood have always been green with a gold V like that above.
Havent seen them play for years now, but Leopold used to be green with a gold yoke (not that thats' relevant to this).

I have already got all the patches which of course does not include Berwick. Got them for much cheaper and without the frame. They have been trying to sell these lot on ebay for months. Either they have not sold as they are too expensive or they have made multiple copies.
JB, Northcote jumper had the green with the gold yoke until they switched to the more recent jumper of gold and green stripes. Northcote played Sunshine in the first ever VFA game televised in colour in 1975.
Also remember Northcote doing quite well against some 1st Division teams in the Lightning Premiership.
That's one thing I have not got any footage of those Lightning Premierships. They were great.
The jumper above could be a Spotty jumper.

I'd like to challenge that one, vfa.

I reckon the first ever VFA game that Channel 0 televised in colour was Box Hill v Camberwell, same season.

2nd division used to start 2 weeks before 1st division, so Chanel 0 used to cover a couple of 2nd division games at the start of the season.

Looks like we might have to drag out a 1975 fixture to see who played in Round 1!

Better still go to the Museum and check the tv guides from then papers on reel from April 1975. Why did channel 0 not keep these games as they were the first in colour ?? Stupid fools channel 0.

If I was at home I could confirm that in a heartbeat. My tip is that Northcote Sunshine was first and Box Hill Camberwell was the next week. The VFA obviously picked games with colour.
In 1976 they showed Northcote and Sunsine again, but in round 2 after they showed Frankston Waverley in round 1.
Of course, we didnt get a colour TV until about 1978, which may have been the last year they showed Div 2 games.
