9 EFC players only for the Bombers. Most of them are also named in the EFC list for this week so unlikely that all 9 will line up.

Well below their average for the season. Obviously due to EFC injuries.

Could spell trouble for the Bombers at the wrong end of the season.

No matter what you think of the alignment, from bottom to finals in one season is a solid turn-around for the club. Shame that they will most likely struggle in the first round of finals.

The whole Bendigo/Essendon thing has been a farce.

A new set of rules to cater for Essendon...

Alignment?????

Garbage

They are Essendon reserves and to use the Bendigo name shows nothing but contempt for the Bendigo region and the VFL

This whole deal was done in a very under handed way

I refuse to call the team Bendigo

Sandy. The most successful club in the past 30 years

The history of Bendigo in the VFL is not a good read.

It surprises me that the VFL has maintained a presence of some sort in Bendigo for this long.

I tend to disagree, I think that the Bombers may surprise a few in the finals once their AFL team bow out.. Only time will tell !!!

Totally agree with you Zebraman. I copped some flack earlier in the season when I started a thread with the team name as Essendon.

The team called "Bendigo" doesnt field a reserves team or abide by the 12/10 rule when playing against standalone teams. Perhaps the name should be "Essendon reserves trading as Bendigo Bombers".

I reckon that you blokes are a little harsh and probably uneducated regarding Bendigo.

you can say that the way the changes were made were underhanded, but don't blame the Bombers for that, blame AFL Vic. the bombers put up a proposal that stopped their club going under and the powers that be accepted it. They could have said no but clearly they felt that VFL footy in regional areas is worth keeping.

Likewise, you may not acknowledge them as Bendigo but i reckon that the players, staff, Directors, Coaches, physio's, trainers and volunteers that are all based in Bendigo would probably disagree.

At the end of the day there is no Essendon director on the Bendigo Board, there is no Essendon staff member working on Bendigo - not every other VFL club can say that. Bendigo may not have reserves but the scary truth is that they have less interference from their AFL partner in how they run their club than many other aligned clubs.

You can bring up the 12/10 rule as much as you like. It only applies for two clubs and will eventually be scrapped. But once again, AFL Vic set the rules, not the Bendigo Bombers.

The club have said many times that they see themselves as an extension to the local footy scene. they have locally listed players training with them, they have significantly improved the local comp by having players play locally when not picked. they actually have the start of a viable pathway working well.

I clearly support the Bombers so am biased, but these guys are working hard to make a club that was created and dumped in Bendigo without a supporter base or facilities get up and going again. They are starting to see success, but I guess there would be no comments made about them if they were not.

If you are an alignment 12/10 rule applies. AFL standalone 12/10 rule does not apply. Bendigo are just the Essendon reserves no matter how you want to spin it.

I've also updated the title of this thread to match the true name of the club.

just cause you can change the name of the thread it does not mean that you should. the club is called the Bendigo Bombers. I and many others support them and quite frankly am over being called anything other than Bendigo by guys who will not even consider taking a balanced view just because it does not suit their Club.
