It slipped a week because the AFL Grand final slipped a week due to Collingwood and West Coast playing a draw in a qualifying final. Had the VFA not moved the GF a week, it would have clashed with an AFL Sunday semi final.
As it happened, it clashed with and Essendon Carlton legends game at Windy Hill, but there was still a good crowd at Optus for Willy v Springvale.
some real gutsy football in this GF. Mende and Smit put bodies on the line for the Scorpions in the last quarter, and Mourney did likewise for 'town in the 3rd when Willy were trying to keep in touch.
both teams effectively had no one fit left on the interchange by the end of the game.
JB ... Thanks for prompting my memory on why the VFA GF slipped a week. I had made comittements for that weekend, but was able to watch it on TV. I regret that I was not able to attend.
