G`day chaps

Hi all. Just found this site and signed up. Fairly new to the VFL. I bought a Borough membership for the first time back in 2006 when the AFL finally pissed me off enough to go looking somewhere else for my footy and i`ve developed enough rust to buy a sponsors membership this year. I look forward to reading the site.

Cheers.

Yes but at least the man has finally seen the light - better late than never. For those of you in the know - is this site a truie indication of the popularity of the league ? Majority Port supporters, some willie, werribee, zebras, bendigo, frankston and all the else have hardly anything ? It appears that most supporters on this page are Port supporters - is that the case in this league that Port is by far the best supported club or is it just that oter supporters have not cauight onto this forum yet ?

yes MAJORITY of new supporters have jumped on the band wagon Port, but will they be there when the wheel turns again as it will.
I can remember only mid '90s when Port coach said on tv "Port supporters do not travel as they might get a nose bleed ' they had a very mediocre following then ,but I must admit they are having a good couple of seasons of late '2011 flag
With the new social club etc. will also help Port but my club Zebras are finding out it takes time to rebuild again but that's what makes our VFL competition so good and enjoyable. So good luck to all new vfl supporters.

Fair point Mega, Unfortunately there are just a few of us that have to carry the can for this part of the world.
Port would have by far the biggest & the most passionate supporter base which can only because of their history.
It can't be success as most Port supporters were not born when they won their second last premiership.
Might be the Burraburgers !!

Great grandad played for the Borough back in 1899 and a couple of blokes from the club where i played all my footy pulled on the red and blue back in the 90`s so there was never any doubt where i was going to end up mate

If port is the best supported club in the league then some of the match days in the VFL must be pretty ordinary crowd wise. I went to a Port game early on last year where the crowd was not all that great and I think if Ports the best supported club (or one of) then the other clubs must realy struggle. I honestly thought the affiliation/mergers with Afl clubs would get crowds up but not that many of the AFL people are that interested.

I guess that also explains why the ABC chooses to show many of Ports games live.

A guy i work with is a keen North supporter hardly misses a game. He lives in Werribee. Although Werribee is the merged club with the Roos and he can get in without paying - he has never seen Werribe play live (in 20 years he has lived there) - yet he will travel to the docklands, mcg to watch his side in the AFL.

He might start attending games at Werribee when North are relocated to Hobart in a year or two. But you would think he might be interested in watching Majak Daw & other North recruits develop but who knows how people think .....
