Port Melbourne v Box Hill MOVED to Box Hill

Just got the call at 10.15am from the PMFC President.

AFL Vic have declared North Port Oval unplayable for tomorrow and the Port Melbourne v Box Hill Hawks game has been shifted to Box Hill City Oval.

Game times remain the same.

Just maybe the VFL should rethink on the finals are being played?

I think this is a bonehead move by the VFL. Can they prove the City Oval is in better condition than North Port, which was fine last week but not now all of a sudden? I have also found out that trains are being replaced by buses between Camberwell and Box Hill on the weekend, extending travel times by up to half an hour (and probably impacting the crowd).
It is possible the VFL want to ensure that North Port is in the best possible condition for the finals, but it is a strange call to make the day before given the PT situation.

Go Borough!

Also with this move to Box Hill there will be no President's Luncheon either for player sponsors or sponsor's of the club.

If this was a sunday fixture the game would go a head. AFL Victoria are being cautious as the venue is the major host of this seasons finals series.

Just watching the replay of a game that was on abc tv today.

The ground it was played at was part of the former Ballarat show grounds show track. Which might have a bit of asbestos under it from the old army buildings. But we will never know as no bugger is digging it up to build any new buildings.

Anyways back to the story. The ground is stuffed, here are all the Ballarat supporters giving it to us when there ground is little more than a cow paddock. I've seen more grass on my nature strip.

Gee whizz I was expecting to see eureka looking like a bowling green.

The word on the street is the game was moved was apparently because hawthorn officials were not happy with the condition of north port & the vfl instructed port to move it to another venue was the word going around box hill oval today.

I call that unlucky as I reckon if 10 other vfl clubs would not have minded.

Did werribee officialls inspect eureka before today's game?
Falling onto those big dirt patches in the forward 50 could seriously hurt a players skin & take some bark off there arms & legs.

As always digs I'm looking forward to your reply. I do think you should have been the one who went into politics not Gerald! You have a great answer to everything!

There needs to be a protocol for eventualities such as necessity to move matches to another venue, especially with short notice.
What apparently has occurred with the late transfer from North Port to Box Hill looks like it was a disorganised mess.
Port members should have been admitted without further charge. Their membership must entitle them to enter the set number of home games.
