VFL 2000-2001 (Grounds)

I have now imported all 2000 and 2001 VFL scores to AustralianFootball which now means all VFL scores from 2000-2014 are currently available on that site. It is great to be able to see advanced ladders and stats now for these older seasons.

But for the 2000 and 2001 seasons the venue data may be slightly inaccurate as I did not have all the venue data available to me.

So if anyone spots any games with the wrong venue or time, can you please post the correct data here and I will fix ASAP.

I am pretty sure I have missed some Waverley games.

Great effort to get the scores up and obviously a lot of work has gone into the site.

Only correction that needs to be made is changing the Northern Blues to the Northern Bullants. The Bullants were one of the first stand alone VFL sides and didn't align with Carlton until 2003 and any historical records need to show this. Even after the alignment it was until the 2012 season that Carlton fully conquered and took over the Bullants.

To date the Northern Blues haven't played in a final series.

Yeah we are still ironing out some issues with clubs that have had more than three names in their history, these will be sorted by the end of the year.

So if anyone can have a look and see if they find any venue errors in the 2000-2006 period that would be great. I think the most likely place for errors will be in the finals as I did not have that data available to me...

Also can someone please confirm that the Second Qualifying Final in 2003 was played at Box Hill Oval even though it was a Williamstown home game?

Oliver

Coburg v Port Melbourne, 4/7/2004 was played at Punt Road. I particularly remember that 'Coburg' wore Richmond jumpers in that game. I don't think it was the only Coburg game at Richmond that year either.

By the way, is Eureka Stadium a sponsor's name for the Northern Oval, or was it just a standard renaming? I'm not a big fan of sponsored stadium names because in the future no-one is going to know where on earth they all were.

Harps,
Eureka Stadium is NOT a sponsor's name.
It replaced the previous name of Austar Arena which was a country outlet for Foxtel & ran for 5 or 6 years.
The name Eureka Stadium was named by the Ballarat City Council in keeping with Ballarat's history & who are one of the contributors to the North Ballarat Footballl Club.
