Huge weekend of footy with Port v Willy shaping up as an absolute classic again in Round 11.
The weather looks OK for the weekend, so hopefully the game draws another solid crowd.
Off field there are lots to offer supporters including BBQs, Souvlakis and the Port Melbourne museum will be open with Ronald Dale Barrassi's PMFC jumper on display!

Roy George back in the side this week for the Borough.
I was driving past Box Hill Oval today, works appeared to be in full swing on the redevelopment. Is the ground fit to host games or is the VFL fixture incorrect and this game actually being played elsewhere?

Frankston beat Southport for first time at Kinetic Stadium today
good crowd of 1100
What an absolute ripper game at North Port today in front of a healthy crowd. The team really seems to be making progress after being in the wilderness post Covid. George had an impact on his return today and Baldwin has been a revelation since moving down forward. Port had second use of the ball with Willy taking the hitouts 80 to 14. Good too see the Borough spirit alive and well.
Agreed, that was a terrific game and it's very good indeed to see George back. Overall this was probably the most solid four-quarter game we've played all season - though hopefully there will be plenty of participants in the optional goalkicking practice on Monday! Dom Bedendo being a late out was concerning, but Farrant stepped up and played a good game. Today's kicking accuracy aside, it's remarkable how much better our forward lines have been looking - forwards are actually finding space and leading at the ball fairly consistently. (I am especially pleased with Baldwin's performances since I'd been saying since last preseason to swing him forward!) When Bedendo and Clarke return the selectors will have some tough decisions to make - great to see this much depth in the side.
Ben Hobbs a very deserving winner of the Frank Johnson medal - he, Baldwin, and Tovey were probably our top three players. Williamstown did put more work into Hobbs in the second half, but Tovey and Hird stepped up in the clearances. I suspect that 8 clearances in a game is a personal best for Hird, although I haven't verified this since I'm not aware of any site that lists players' career stats and includes clearances. As usual Hird did some strong defensive work against Williamstown's mids also. Green also played very well. Since I commented on the low disposal efficiency of several players after the Southport game, I should note that for the most part our mids' disposal efficiency has been much better over the past couple of weeks.
Gahan, Van Es, and Rankin all very good as well. I recall some excellent spoils by Gahan although I didn't keep track of how many. While it wasn't Highmore's best game overall, he was certainly in the right place in those final seconds!
Penry certainly had his work cut out for him once again and it's no surprise Mirkov and Preuss dominated the hitouts, but as you said last week, NorthPort, he'll learn from these experiences. His work rate is good - he did lay 8 tackles, which is the most of any Port player.
The commentators mentioned Luca Alessio's role a a defensive forward on Luke Parks - hard to see that sort of thing watching online, but while Parks did have an impact for Willy, he did have fewer disposals and fewer marks than he's had in previous games this season, so Alessio's role on him was successful.
Great to finish the round 6th on the ladder. Next week there is a chance we'll be out of the ten depending on results but we are clearly very much alive in the finals race.
I watched the women's game already knowing the result - usually I watch the recordings in order but this week decided to watch the men's game live, so learned the result from the commentary. The play around the ground was more even than I expected except in the third quarter, when Williamstown dominated all round. But we had our chances otherwise and will hopefully see more accurate kicking in the next game. I thought Caruso, Caffry, Fullarton, Ashley-Cooper, Foran, and Jones were particularly good.
Agree with all posted albeit I didn't watch the majority of the game as had sime duties. Bumped into somebody who knows Clarke personally who said he will probably be back after the Coburg game and is super keen to get back out there. As unfortunate as injuries are they do give that extra bit of motivation and renewed enthusiasm to get back on the ground.
Coming welcome back- I agree with your comment- pre match function was.one of the best attended in recent times, post match the room is beginning to fill again, communication from the club is excellent, fan moral is at the highest I believe since posy covid, fans are coming back with (my estimate) over 4000 people the past 2 home games - it's great to see coz their was some ordinary moments past few years if we are honest with ourselves- indeed the Port melbourne borough spirit is alive and well both on and off the field.

Wow.. What a game. Port perhaps a touch lucky to hold on, but I thought given Williamtown'ruck duo dominating in the centre that we did really well to set up some very good football. We looked so much more potent going forward than the start of the season and that was without Bedendo in the line-up. Really positive signs for the remainder of the season. George had really good evading skills but is also really physical in the contest and he adds another dimension to the side.
I think the bye now is a bit of a double edged sword. Momentum is a wonderful thing but we have now got the opportunity to get a few back for our next game against Coburg.

Would love to see the injury list report rerurn - any idea how long bendedo and romantic are out for. This forum is turning into the Port melbourne forum - Frankston fans who were regular posters seem to have disappeared, would like to see other club supporters post as well.

Seconding that it would be good to have the injury report again, and also to see other clubs' supporters posting as well. I looked to see if there was an up to date VFL injury report in the herald sun and if so any way of accessing it, but the most recent one is from several weeks ago. Great to see Frankston get their first win over Southport this past weekend. The competition is remarkably close this season.
Haven't posted much due to being so busy between work and volunteering at the club (in addition to filming for both of our women's teams I'm also helping sell footy records at home games) but this past Saturday was easily the best performance for the year thus far. Yes, Southport have slipped behind this year but I think a convincing win over a team that we've historically been thrashed by is exactly what we needed to get our season back on track. Hopefully it gives our boys a bit of confidence that they can beat anyone in the competition. We've had too many matchups where we don't give ourselves a chance mentally.
I actually decided to go into the rooms for the team song after the game, something I haven't done before except for one away game last year. It was well worth it: https://youtu.be/3As-rwO1NDg?si=KYkcDUbKZxkMfnMz
