FRANKSTON co-captain Luke Potts suffered a knee injury in the Dolphins' 36-point loss to Box Hill Hawks on Saturday.

"We won't know until Wednesday how he pulls up," Frankston coach Simon Goosey said.

Potts came back on after injuring the knee, but was hobbling after the game.

Frankston kept the Hawks, with 17 Hawthorn-listed players, goalless in the opening quarter, but failed to take its opportunities later in the game.

On the other hand, the Hawks took their chances and fired off eight goals to Frankston's two after half-time.

Goosey said the Dolphins' goal kicking let them down.

"It was tight in every aspect, except on the scoreboard," he said.

"We've had 19 shots, they've had 20, we've had as many possessions as them and we've had two more inside fifties."

"You look at the stats and it should have been a lot closer. It was our inability to kick goals at crucial times (that cost us)."

Exciting young forward Corey Buchan continued his emergence with a lively display for Frankston while Kyle Martin, Lachlan Delahunty and former East Doncaster youngster Leigh Osborne did well.

The Dolphins host Werribee this Sunday.
