Just watched a past VFA game on DVD. Oakleigh v Sunshine which was a Round 14 clash back in 1985. Very tough clash with no holds barred. Oakleigh led at quarter time 4.5 to 4.1. The second quarter was also pretty close with Oaks still leading by 4 points 9.7 to 8.9. Litchfield booted 4 goals for the quarter with some strong marks. Butch Litchfield had 5 goals up to half time for the crows with gun forward Pretto also kicking 5 for the oaks. The third quarter was all Sunshine as they led 13.17 to 9.10 and playing some great footy.

Excellent - look forward to seeing that final quarter on Youtube :)
Well done VFA, great summary. Oakleigh and Sunshine was a huge rivalry in the 1980's, and chiefly because of the Pretto / Litchfield factor. Sunshine attracted crowds back to watch them due to flamboyant players like Butch, Shepparbottom, Nelson, Protetto and Scanlan, and the Coodabeen Champions loved them and used to enjoy trying to pronounce the Crows player named Vadjnal.
Unfortunately for these 2 teams, while they were busy knocking each other out the likes of Box Hill, Prahran and Brunswick had the discipline to go on and win the flags.
How can you get to watch this game. i remember it well, it was a beauty.
VFA gets his hands on all manner of games.. I'd try private messaging him.
