You:re dragging the bottom of the barrel there Mega ! Nahas & Dwyer were your own players.

Hardly household names.

Yes they did play a part in your 2017 premiership but when I get the chance I will check for some of the Ex AFL players that DID'NT play in a premiership. That's if I have enough space to name them, !

Yes true we developed them and were Port players but you did say ex AFL players which they indeed were.

As for hardly household names ... With over 110 AFL games I think Nahas would have some recognition but as you know this competition doesn't attract big names like it did years ago, which household  names are you expecting to play for the VFL when the slaray cap doesn't allow players to be paid more than a few hundred per game!

As for listing which Ex AFL players didn;t play in VFL premierships - don't bother, everybody knows that although they may make a solid contribution having a Ex AFL player in your side doesn't guaraatee premierships, common Digs a man of your vintage should know that !

Yep, You got me there Paul !!

Hardly an established player at Port that came with a big reputation & an even bigger baggage list.

I suppose one from a hundred isn't too bad.

Anybody got any other BIG signings ?

Interesting off field recruitment by Port securing ETU & CFMEU as major sponsors, both were long time supporters of Coburg.

Recently Templeton. Lisle and Blair have been good. Before that  can remeber a few who were ordinary, especially one who went from Frankston to Gold Coast Suns to Port..

Nahas (nominated best AFL player from 2010 - 2017)

Blair - AFL premiership player

Templeton - work horse - will run all day and get plenty of possesions

Murdock

Dwyer

Jordan Lisle - leading VFL goal kicker 3 times.

Mitch Golby - solid couple of seasons at Port and a premiership player.

Connors - even agreed upon by the harshest of  Port Melbourne critics - our friend from Ballarat :)

No doubt that Port has recruited more than just two good ex AFL players. Having said that, with only a few places left they are yet to recruit any for season 2020 (rumour has it that one might get a contract if he proves himself on the training track). Seems like it is getting harder to recruit ex AFL players who are now opting to play in other leagues once delisted. Perhaps they don't have faith that they can get into the VFL through system as their hasn't been many who have done so in recent times.

Amazing the number of ex-AFL blokes flocking to the Ammos - the old boys network must be working overtime finding them jobs and arranging scholarships for their kids
