Moorabbin Kangaroos

I was trying to find the colours of the Moorabbin Football Club, the Kangaroos, in the VFA. I have found somewhere that it stated that Moorabbin used to wear black and white stripes in the Federal Football League, but had to change when joining the VFA due to Brunswick already wearing those colours. It said they choose the Royal Blue and White of North Melbourne.

However, I have seen pictures of Moorabbin wearing something like the jumpers of Geelong, Navy Blue and White hoops.

I am putting together pages that show the jumpers of VFA clubs.Should I create one page for the Moorabbin or one for each version of the club, one for 1951-1963 and one for 1983-1987.

My recall of. Moorabin's jumper during their ealy days in the VFA (the fifties) was navy/dark blue and white hoops, similar to Geelong.

The  VFA representative jumper of that time was  also navy/dark blue and white  hoops

I wonder where that premiership flag is now? I read somewhere they had a flag unfurling ceremony at Moorabbin in 1964 on a Saturday night with just some officials and players, that photo may well have been from that night. An early warning message that you get involved with AFL clubs at your peril.

Yes from 1951 when Moorabbin entered the VFA till 1963 they definately did play in a Geelong style jumper and the VFA reps jumper was for a long time after WW2 also similar to Geelongs with a VFA monogram on the front.

Wally one stat you would not like is the 1957 season where Williamstown won all 20 H&A matches only to lose the second semi to Moorabbin by 2 pts and then get thrashed by the old emeny Port in the PF by 72pts!Moorabbin did go on and win the flag that year in a GF replay after a draw in the first GF.

You did have your revenge on Moorabbin the following year and if you had won the 1957 flag (which you should have) you would have had a record 6 VFA premierships in a row!

I saw all the finals in those days as we went to all the VFA finals matches even if Sandy were not playing.
