if the finals proceed it will be decidedly unfair as the AFL-aligned clubs have been playing scratch matches whilst unaligned clubs have not even been able to train, but i guess this only effects Southport now that it has reverted to a final four if things open up next week

Even if it is played it will never be recognised as a REAL premiership and will end up as a footnote in the dustbin of history!

No vfl grand final, no more footy for the year in Victoria, no crowds at Melbourne cup. Basically wipe out rest of 2021.  All over red rover.

Yep, we are now in permanent lockdown until the vaccination targets are met with slight easing of restrictions at different milestones along the way. In terms of VFL footy in 2022, we have to hope Andrews will honour the National Cabinet agreement to open up with no more lockdowns at 80%, but reports from oveseas in the last couple of days suggest a new variant of the virus may be happening, so who knows what the future holds.

Not looking good bearsman. I can only dream of what life was in the 70s and 80s when growing up as a kid. Loved all of the 70s and 80s. Life was so great back then. Melbourne was such a great place. I can say I was lucky to live through the best era. Not much will change in 2022 I'm afraid. Even when they get to the so called 70 to 80% expect many more problems will exsist world wide. My last footy game was on July 31 Richmond Central v Parkside. Not sure when my next one will be ? My next beer ? my next visit to a restaurant  ? my next band I will see ? my next visit to the race track ? my next visit to a coffee shop ? I'm lucky to at least still have a job and work from home. Feel for all the people doing it a lot tougher. Time to get out of the house now and go for my daily work.

Commonsense pevails for once at the AFL run Afl Victoria in not running the compromised finals this year!

Yep the new varient coming out of South Africa is a worry so this pandemic could have a very long way to go yet!

And with a high number of people still not fully vaccinated due to supply problems or just a refusal to get the jab we are in for a rough ride over the next few months.
