I'm reserving judgement because I don't know the specifics of why he's leaving, but this is pretty concerning. This club hasn't exactly been known for stability over the past decade and I worry about what this will do for what little momentum we've been able to build these past few years. 2021 it was COVID, 2022 it was key players leaving, and now in 2023 we're looking for a new coach. I hope to God that there's nothing more behind this, that Danny's leaving on good terms and that whoever comes next will be able to take us higher and higher. But I can't pretend I'm not worried for the future.

Going to a full time coach looks a positive move to me.  Danny has been great, but losing they players they did at the end of 2022 and subsequent lack of recruiting put him behing the eight ball. He has given the next coach a really solid foundation to build on.

I won't be surprised if he  pick ups an  AFL assistant coaching role.

I don't think he's after a full-time role due to his current employment, that's why he's not being considered for next year at Frankston. Has done a pretty solid job.

I'm all for the idea of a full time coach, that's progressive for sure.......but gee I hope this doesn't cost us players. I'm pretty bloody sick of rebuild after rebuild every year. This club is in serious need of stability, on and off the field.

Besides being on the panel to select the new coach, does Grant Thomas have any official involvement at Frankston?

OK, interesting, i'm hearing some rumours he's getting involved in the Club but don't know if there is any basis to them - does he have any history with Frankston or is it just his friendship with your number 1 ticket holder, Dee Dee Dunleavy?

Wally, was down at the club on Sunday for the girls' grand final and got chatting with some people. Apparently Grant Thomas is on the committee to select a new coach, but won't be doing the job himself. Word was, there was a shortlist of 8 to 10 names and a couple have been struck off. A bit of discussion about the fact Brett Ratten has left North Melbourne. How good would that be as an appointment?

Brett Ratten would be a GREAT get and just maybe he has had a gutful of the AFL merry-go-round but then again that's where the big money is

They're paying $120k plus a car - should get a decent field to choose from.

That's about the going rate for a full-time VFL coach nowadays - it's no 9-5 gig
