Port Melbourne close to renewing Adam Skrobalak as men's coach for 2024
Body:

Paul Amy has reported on Codes ports that the Borough are close to putting pe to paper for Skrobalak to remain as coach for the 2024 men's season.

It could be a controversial decision after a couple of seasons of sub par results.

Very disappointing, mediocrity rewarded. Port Melbourne publicly stated that the goal for last season was to play finals again, the target was well and truly missed with the club losing more games than the previous season, if anything the team went backwards. It's very unusual to reward someone with contract renewal when key KPIs are not met.

This club who once set the highest of standards appears to now lack effort. This isn't the Port Melbourne many fell in love with.

Spot on MegaA, a very strange decision if true and doesn't bode well for next season. I forsee a massive turnover of the current playing list.

Didn't think everyone would be happy with that if true !  Didn't please all at the start.

Time to bring back Garrry.

At the last home game I noticed Gary's name was still on the coach's donga at the back on the grandstand

Knowing the love the Port faithful had in him I could never understand why he was sacked.

Hope it was not over money ?

Nobody knows Digs, well a few know but nothing has been made public. Theirs all sorts of rumours ranging from money issues, arguments,  not agreeing to sitting down for a review (which was the reason stated in thd AGM). You were the last person on this big rock that I thought ild hear say bring back Gary. Some are tipping that with the rumoured $120k offered for a full time roll at Franksron that Gary may go there and what a appointment that would be ! Ild imagine he would draw a few quality players and would have improved player retention (as compared to Frankstons past).

Mega,

Had the pleasure to meet Garrry on several occasions through Fitzy & found him to very engaging to talk to & friendly. My only criticism was that I thought he was somewhat overrated considering the resources he had at his disposal.

How is the team he is coaching going at the minute & are they in contention ?

He is exactly what Frankston need to bring some stability to their club & the Morning Peninsular, but I'd

imagine he would not come cheap.

I have to agree, I've spoken to him on a few occasions and I found him very down to earth and approachable and always happy to give you his time, I put it down to his country upbringing.

Montrose had a very good season and he took them to the preliminary final, when he went there they had just got promoted,  missed finals first year and preliminary in his 2nd year.

As for not coming cheap, I've heard Frankston are offering 120k, that'll be enough ild say, Gary is ultra competitive and loves a challenge and pushing himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he applies and if he does I dare say the application process including the interview will be merely a formality.
