What was the point of releasing round 1 a few days before the rest of the fixture?

Yeah it's annoying. Just release the whole thing.

Woo-hoo, Frankston at Frankston under lights round 1, same as last year, should be an interesting encounter i would imagine

I'm quite excited for it. Frankston vs Williamstown is a genuine rivalry and the Seagulls will be good opposition. That's without considering that there are 3 former Dolphins playing for Williamstown now. I imagine both sides will be up and about for this game.

Last year's Friday night game was a ripper, the Dollies should have won except for their bizarre shooting at goal, i seem to recall they booted 16 behinds before they kicked a goal and that was only because of a 50 metre penalty that put the Frankston player in the goal square, they then kicked 3 goals in 5 minutes and looked set to run over the top of us but sanity prevailed and we steadied to win but it was a helluva game, hopefully the weather is kind and there is a good crowd

I'm hoping for a great crowd. The club's preferred timeslot is Friday nights, probably because it's at the end of the workweek and it entices locals who are keen enough for footy that they don't want to wait until their local club plays on the weekend.

It'll be the first real indication of where we stand as a team this year. Going off our pre-season form last year, I had genuine concerns that we'd be bottom of the barrel. But aside from our atrocious goalkicking, we played well against Williamstown. What we'll get this year, I don't know. I've seen these guys at training and there are some talented players in our list, we've added some much needed height to an undersized list, and our ball movement has been promising in match simulations so far. But we've also lost some of our best players, and for that reason it makes sense that nobody from outside the club expects us to be any good.

Round 1 could be a good contest, or we might get smashed. Won't know until the day comes.

that's the delicious uncertainty of round 1, all the recruits and pre-season hype are laid bare and the year can be set up with a good start

I'm pretty disappointed that Port are playing interstate on just over a month's time. I would have loved to have travelled up to the Gold Coast, but it looks like the cheapest fares available now are $230+

I guess Borough fans will get along to the spectator unfriendly Tullamarine ground to watch the women's side get underway, but does make it tough to aww both games.

From what I've heard at the club, Frankston's interstate games all fall within the middle portion of the season with long periods of Victorian matches on either side. Probably the best we could have hoped for after only having one interstate game last year.

Frankston often open up the bar and put the livestream on the TV so members can watch interstate games. Does Port do anything similar?

Actually there's five. Mitch Cox, Jack McHale, Will Fordham, Brodie McLaughlin, Ryley Stoddart.

Josh Pickess and Jason Pongracic have both left the club.

Jack McHale played for Frankston? Didn't know that, he played seniors? Also a good cricketer apparently

He was at Frankston for 2 years under Skrobolak and came from the Stingrays with pretty big wraps. Showed heaps of promise the first year playing regularly in the firsts but from memory got a serious injury towards the end of the year. They experimented with him as a defender and tagger after that and it wasn't his go, and had an ordinary year. I liked him as a player and was disappointed when he left and went to Hailebury.

Btw he is the grandson of Jock McHale.

Wondered if there might be others. I've heard those names but I think they might be before I was really following the club.

oh wow, didn't know that, yeah he's become quite a good player although a bit on the light side, i must ask his parents about the Jock McHale connection, they are at every game
