Williamstown put up a good fight, but North Melbourne-Werribee kicked more accurately, were cleaner with the footy, and were better at maintaining tackle pressure. After being behind in both clearances and inside 50s at 3/4 time, Willy finished +3 in clearances and the inside 50s were equal, but North were +18 in tackles and were leading the tackle count at every change while also being ahead on the scoreboard. Overall I thought Willy's defence stood up well despite the margin, with Laura Blue in particular playing a strong game, but North were a bit cleaner inside forward 50. North's defence did well to drag Zielinski up the ground so that most of her impact was away from goal.
The umpires' conference over Emily Eaves' goal really demonstrates your point in the other thread, NorthPort, about needing to introduce time off for stoppages - a longer third quarter would have favoured North if anything but it's a bit ridiculous to have the play clock ticking while the umpires try to figure out what happened in the previous passage of play.
Would love to see a Port Melbourne v Williamstown grand final next season.
