The AFL bye week, means that clubs like Geelong will be at full strength.

It's going to be huge week of footy!

Why on earth do Port get a home final as a lower ranked team? Does the AFL's shafting of Geelong reach this far? Haha

It's because Northport oval is the finals venue for all finals except for the grand final and two others. Would have been played at Port no matter who the opponent was as the VFL loved having the finals there saying that last year's finsls series was the best one hosted ever.

Then it should be two other sides playing there. No way do Port deserve to be gifted a home final.

Ordinarily I would agree with you aj9172, but I think the competition is already heavily weighted against the standalone clubs so I don't have as much of an issue with it.

Geelong will field a side that is being paid in the probably in the millions of dollar range, compared to our salary cap of $175K or whatever it currently stands at.

I'd like to see the same for Werribee, Williamstown or any standalone VFA club that makes it to the first week of finals.

Its unusual for a stand alone VFL club to have something go their way now the AFL runs the VFL - so good luck to them, and hopefully they come out on Saturday and smash Geelong.

Geelong and Chris Scott are really having a sook lol

Hopefully the borough will bundle them out of the finals. Go port, Willy and werribee !!! Want all three vfa teams to win.

Having Port play at Northport Is the least that they could do after denying Port 4 points by a amateur last second decision v Carlton reserves. If it wasn't for that decision, we would have finished in 5th spot.

Thanks for the welcome Bearsman.....30 years a Dolphin, god help me! Have lived here all my life, my old man took me to an Elimination Final against Sandy back in 81 I think it was, and I was hooked.

I see it's a pretty strong Port contingent here, and I don't want to rock the boat (much).....but correct me if I'm wrong, it's not the first time Port have been given a home final despite finishing lower than their opponent? Why are Werribee not getting a home final against Box Hill?

I'm definitely pro the standalone clubs, but I just feel Port get a better rub of the green than the rest of us.
