I fear the home and away season might be finished for Victoria. It seems very unlikely we will be out of lockdown next week, with 22 cases today and needing to get to zero before we are released. It's hard to see that happening in 6 days. When we do get out, it will be the usual crawl out so it may be a couple of weeks before VFL footy will be allowed. Final round is a month away - scheduled for 21st August. Think we might run out of time, so we might have to go straight to the finals, barring lockdown #6 appearing then.

Straight to finals ? You have uneven games but yes i tend to agree that theirs a strong possibility thats it for VFL in 21.

Essendon will get thrashed. Southport will record yet another percentage booster.

You may find that the clubs that don't get to play enough games in the home and away season get their points 'averaged out' as though they had played the minimum number of games required for a finals season.

It's possible that Port Melbourne having such a bad season is swaying my opinion of this season, but I really do think we should abandon it and restructure for a Victorian footblall competition in 2022.

* It's time to restore the VFA name.

With all these lockdowns all local leagues are affected and will play far less than the scheduled games. Vfl logistically is so much harder with interstate teams. Overall far better than 2020 with no local footy at all. Let's hope lockdown restrictions lifted by Tuesday night so all local leagues can resume footy by next weekend. Fingers crossed.

Southport beat Essendon by 4 points. Always great to see afl clubs lose. Whether it is by 1 point or 100 points.

Time for a breakaway "rogue" competiition, emtirely divorced from the AFL.
