41 Players total, 3 more than last years list for Box Hill. Is this a result of Hawthorn going into the season with fewer rookies?

* It's time to restore the VFA name.

Partially ons . as most people are now aware young WA ruck prospect Tom Willday has reneged on his agreement to come across as a Hawthorn rookie and play the season with Box Hill. As rookies cannot be replaced it means we go in one short , thereby leaving an extra spot for someone on the Box Hill list. Also , youngsters Stephen Foster and Adrian Tapscott are both recovering from major knee surgery and wont be available till much later in the season. A further consideration was the fact that Brendan Rinaldi is still some time away , although on schedule , in his rehab from a total knee reco sustained in the opening round last year. The list of 41 goes back effectively to 38 for art least the first month or so of the season. Also interesting to note the club has continued firmly along the path of youth and development , an Andy Collins trademark for many years. What we lack in experience and big name recruits , we'll certainly make up for in enthusiasm and spirit. Perhaps just a couple of kids to keep an eye on ( from my ridiculously biased viewpoint of course !!) are Jason Eagle , a strong forward from Mildura ; Jason Cook and Stuart Hill , a couple of strong 'talls' from East Burwood ; Al Neville , formerly of Oakleigh and coming via the ammos ; Evan Johnson , Ryan Breese and Johnny Holmes from Eastern ; tough and classy Sam Gibson along with Pat Hassett from Oakleigh and the talented Simon Paton from Wodonga. Of last years list , Benny McGlynn is absolutely flying and Dan Seehusen and Nick Kane have both taken considerable steps towards senior footy. Dave Smith continues his steep learning curve from Basketball to footy and looks likely tom press for senior selection this season. Lots to like at Box Hill this year , but as always with young sides , consistency will be the key I guess....or rather the search for it.

Very very relieved to see one Tim Harvey is kicking on for a second season. He'd have to be one of the best kicks of a football I've seen. Good mullet too. Hope Marguccio can get on the ground and recapture some of his 2003 finals form. Interested in Nick Kane and Breesy's brother, from a good stock. Reckon Batchelor, Howat and Weinert will have to stand up with the quality we've lost in Bails and Naggers, hope they can. Good work on gettin the list. Go Mustangs!

Paul Jolley will have a ripper year for the Hawks, the best at finding space in the forward line and always ends up with 3 or 4 goals! How is Ryan Griggs going, happy to hear he made the list after recovering from injury last season! This kid is a freak and hope Collins gives him an opportunity! Havent heard much from Box Hill about James O'Grady?? Very close to senior selection last year, where is he at??

Gday Eight , Jolls will certainly get his opportunity to play senior footy this year , it's up to him what he makes of it I guess. Spots are hard to find with AFL players coming back each week as we all know. Griggsy was flying earlier but has had his preparation slowed somewhat with a few niggly little things. He looks super fit though and will have his first hit out against Preston this week. Hits packs and blokes pretty hard doesn't he. Jimmy O also had his pre season interrupted with , of all things, impacted wisdom teeth which really stuffed him around for a while. he played ressies last week foir the first time and is in line for a senior game this week. Once he gets his fitness base back he'll be a big chance to play senior footy on a regular basis. One of the more honest blokes going round is Jimmy.

He has great skills and an uncanny ability to create space, skils are good too....I think Hawthorn will look closely at him!!
