ROUND 21 - Fixture / Ground change
Body:

From ťhe Port Melbourne website. The Port Melbourne Football Club wishes to advise all members and supporters of a change in time and venue for our last set of home-and-away games against Geelong (Peter Jackson VFL) and Coburg (AFL Victoria Development League) in Round 21 of the Victorian Football League this weekend. Initially, the fixture indicated that these games would be played at North Port Oval on Saturday 27th August 2016, with a start time of 10:00am for the Development League game against Coburg, followed by the Seniors taking on Geelong at 2:00pm. Following significant consultation and guidance from AFL Victoria, the decision has been made for these games to be officially transferred to Sunday 28th August, 2016 at the Whitten Oval, 417 Barkly Street, Footscray. In addition, the official starting times of both games have been altered to accommodate live coverage of the Senior game from VFL broadcaster Channel 7. As such, the Senior game against Geelong will now commence at 11:40am, which will then be followed by the Development League side playing Coburg at 2:40pm. Although disappointed to be losing a second home game for season 2016, the club is supportive of this decision, given that the chances of North Port Oval continuing to host the first three weeks of the upcoming ‘Legendairy’ 2016 VFL Finals Series will now be significantly strengthened. Members and sponsors should also be advised that there will be no pre-game President’s Function ahead of the Geelong game in Round 21 at the Whitten Oval, however the club is currently finalising plans to hold a President’s Luncheon in conjunction with the Borough’s first Final at North Port Oval (official schedule to be confirmed in due course). All relevant club sponsors who are entitled to a ticket to this Luncheon will be given notification and further details as soon as practical. The Port Melbourne Football Club would like to thank our loyal members and supporters for their unwavering commitment to the club during this difficult time, and look forward to seeing a typically strong contingent of travelling fans at Whitten Oval as both sides aim to consolidate their Finals credentials.
