The days of all clubs getting ABC TV exposure are coming to an end. The broadcaster has told the VFL it is changing its focus and wants to cover the best matches. It’s bad news for clubs down the ladder: previously every team got at least one televised match each season. “(It is) disappointing for the poorer-performing clubs but it will showcase the VFL competition better,†AFL Victoria CEO Peter Schwab said. He said the ABC coverage was “critical†to the VFL’s brand and profile.
