PORT MELBOURNE: Coach Gary Ayres said he isn't fazed by the team's lack of polish to finish off matches despite its poor final-quarter record this season.
The Borough unveiled Wayne Schultz, who could be pivotal to Port Melbourne's quest for another grand final appearance.
But it may not have been an option late last year when he was in hospital with what doctors described as a "super bug", needing an operation to remove fluid from the lung, after which he was told he may never play VFL football again.
Schultz missed the majority of the pre-season but had the determination to resume his career through a slow rehabilitation process.
He has been dubbed as the replacement in the Borough's line-up for Richmond recruit Robin Nahas after showing his dash and goalkicking nous, particularly against Box Hill Hawks when he made his mark with four goals.
