DESPITE a 22-goal thrashing at the hands of Werribee, Burnie coach Brent Plant predicts the TSL can compete with the VFL in the state game on May 26.
The Dockers, last year's TSL runners-up and undefeated this season, were beaten by 133 points in Saturday's Foxtel Cup by the VFL Tigers at Etihad Stadium.
Many predict a similar outcome when the TSL hosts the VFL at Bellerive Oval.
Saturday's Werribee side featured 14 AFL-listed North Melbourne players.
Players on AFL lists cannot play in the representative team.
"It will be pretty much a second-string VFL team, which will help the Tassie boys," Plant said yesterday.
