I'm back in Oz and conditions are perfect at Whitten Oval.
All Geelong at quarter time.
Half time and Port are just about uncompetitive.
Lots of things to say about what Port are displaying today.
Port Melbourne 9.10.64
The game was all over before half time. Geelong really exposed Port on the bigger ground with Ports work rate no where near where it needed to be against a quality Geelong lineup.
A number of VERY gettable scoring opportunities went begging. Billy Hogan being the main culprit with three shots that should be kicked at any standard of footy.
Geelong were cleaner and more efficient and now jump to 5th spot I think.
Port missed Matt Arnot who will return next week.
As I'm typing this, Tynan, Hobbs, Gordon and Clarke are all running out in the DL and will need to impress. Hobbs the likely inclusion as 23rd player next week.
Ports defenders have been very good all season, Mihocek, Cook, Mascitti along with Osborne across the defensive half driving so much attacking football.. However the Borough have been a low scoring side in 2016 with Lisle having limited impact up forward and some patchy form from other forward options.
Still, a week's a long time in footy!
Looks like port v sandy most likely at sandy. Other finals willy v pies at carlton, casey v dogs at casey and Geelong v essendon at carlton or sandy at a guess. We will know in a few hours. Sandy having a hard battle at werribee but no impact on next week as will play port. I think the borough would rather play sandy at sandy than at footscray. Willy look good to fix up collingwood at carlton of all places. Will casey have a night final next weekend?
Port Melbourne 0.2 2.5 6.6 9.10 (64)
Geelong 6.3 10.5 14.8 15.9 (99)

VFA I believe North Port was given the ok 2 weeks ago.
Mack Rivett is another who played today who plays a good contested style of footy.
I'd like to see some thought given towards Arnot, Hobbs and Rivett all being they types of players needed for a physical brand of footy, particularly if games are played at North Port.
VFA - aren't the elimination finals going to be held in Port ?
17 PREMIERSHIPS, 33 x GRAND FINALISTS, 21 X Runners up
THE VFLS MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB - THE MIGHTY PORT MELBOURNE BOROUGH!
I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN, I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED, I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!
I think it's fair to say Port are the sixth best team in the comp. They are 0-7 against the top five and 11-0 against the teams below them!
Hard to see them winning a flag on that form, or the poor defensive effort they put up in the first half today. The narrow ground at Footscray doesn't suit the way Port play, but that is no excuse for that first half.
Having said that, they got themselves the best elimination final match-up in Sandy, and will give themselves a real chance against the loser of Collingwood v Willi if they play well, so it's not all doom and gloom.
