Just a word on Friday night's practice match at Frankston. Was a great game to watch, high pace and high quality and I think both coaches would be pretty pleased with their team's efforts. Good to see the hill relatively well behaved in spite of a brawl breaking out and a Coburg player reported right in front of them. There were lights on at the front of the grandstand and the snack and can bars were in full swing. Let's hope the weather holds up for another couple of weeks when we do it for real with the burgers.

Oh, and there was a coffee van and a fish and chip van in attendance too, catering to a larger section of the supporters in the outer. Hope that will be a regular thing.

aj9172, big test at SkyBus will be next Friday night when Frankston YCW play Pines in first MPNFL game under the new lights, hoping for a crowd of 3-4 thousand.

Yes Robbo, it will be a big night for peninsula footy. I'm torn on whether to go down there or head out to Tullamarine and watch the Dolphs. Being an ex-Karingal then Frankston Rovers player, I don't have much time for either YCW or Pines. It's a shame to hear Pines have lost a bunch of players and it mightn't be the greatest of contests. I think we're about to see a boom period for footy down here though, and a competitive Frankston team is integral to that. Great to see some partnerships forming between the club and the MPNFL, which is something I've felt we've needed badly for a long time. Your VFL club shouldn't be in competition with local clubs for talent. The VFL should be seen as a step forward for players.

All great news aj. All the best for when the real stuff starts.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green
