Few and far between alright,i can remember a couple from the seventies who came from Port in Frankie Briner and Pickles Alexander, both serviceable players who couldnt get games at Port,Mourney came from SA i think Wal after being at Port.
I think it's important to remember that with no junior pathway anymore, it is increasingly difficult to develop juniors. The alignment with Oakleigh Chargers no longer exists.
Port Colts are doing a good job with their pathway program and ties between the two clubs have improved, but we might not see the benefits of that for some years yet.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Correct CGull, from West Adelaide - Mal Allen was another from Port. He, Briner and Alexander all played in the 1976 premiership side at Willi.
You were correct blackrocker, Mourney came to Willi in 1988 and Swan in 1989 - i cant recall any Port players coming to Williamstown since then.
You two have a wealth of knowledge on Williamstown Footy club.
Northport your right about the relationship with the colts being better compared to what it was. Wouldnt it be great if unselected players went to the same club like the colts, I can see benefits in doing that but I don't think neither the colts or any of the other clubs in the league would allow that to happen - would be a similar scenario to when AFL clubs started taking over our competition. I'ld love to see a 2nds side introduced but I can only see that happening if the competition was independent of AFL clubs.
According to the border mail Cody Szust is set to join Port Melbourne from Wodonga. Cody has previously played at a couple of SANFL clubs which are South Adelaide and Norwood. Hard to judge the quality of the midfield/forward as not a great deal of information - but heres what i know. Cody has a decent amount of experience playing in top grade state comps with 34 SANFL games - 22 of which were with South Adelaide and 12 with Norwood before moving to Wodonga. I'm uncertain about the reason for lack of games with Norwood wether that be form or injury, the 183 cms new recruit will be 25 next season.

THE VFLS MOST SUCCESSFUL CLUB - THE MIGHTY PORT MELBOURNE BOROUGH!
I'M PORT MELBURNE BORN, I'M PORT MELBOURNE BRED, I'LL BE PORT UNTIL I'M DEAD!!!
3 of the hardest working players in Templeton, Hooper and Wagner have been confirmed for next year. Good news for Port fans as had they of left finding replacements if equal quality would have been unlikely.
Double post, BUGGER !
I'm really relieved to see those 3 maintained.
Positive news coming out of the Borough.
Paul Amy reporting that Izzy Conway has gone to Oakleigh Districts
Will be a very handy player in that comp, not sure if other Port fans agree but I feel Conway was not the same after he sustained his knee injury, was peaking just before getting injured.
