Digs, we haven't had a lot to cheer about for.....oh, about 16 years! We're making the most of it for now!

Bearsman, totally agree, Taj was brilliant.....ferocious, tenacious, composed.

I could wax lyrical about a few blokes - Angus Grant, for a small ruckman is growing more and more at ease in the role. Was outstanding last night as a marking option too. Lochie Reidy and Nick Burke are providing good targets across half forward and deliver well inside 50. Our defence......Smith, Barlow, Williams, Voss, Milne, Stainthorpe.....aside from the Geelong debacle, these blokes are giving up an average of about 50 points a match, which is bloody incredible. Johnson, Butland and Sharp are providing great targets up forward - and Gown to come back ....the future is bright.

Southport next week is a massive test of how good we really are though - can't wait to see it.

I'm loving the results down at Frankston. I'm on the bandwagon, hoping that the excitement and experience gained from the first half of the season is really something to build on in the lead up to finals.

Anyone have any updates on Josh Smith? Disappointingly no details have been released by the club as far as I can tell.

Hopefully thats the last we will see of Luke Parker...

NorthPort......this isn't the first talented team we've had at Frankston.....always it has been about the psyche of the group. Thus far, Jackson Kornberg has these boys believing in themselves, and they are starting to show they can match it with anybody if they play their game. I can only imagine these last two weeks (beating AFL clubs) have done wonders for that. What we need to stop is the kind of blowout that happened at Geelong. That's the bad old Frankston, losing the plot quickly and dropping their heads. Southport next weekend will test their mettle, so we'll see. But yeah, it's pretty exciting stuff at the moment.

Bearsman, I haven't heard squat about Josh's condition as yet. The only mention of the incident at the club on Saturday was that we're not gonna talk about it. I suspect legal action is being considered. Hope Josh is ok, he was a bit of a mess afterwards.

I've seen footage of the hit in question and it really doesn't look good. Smith was practically jogging toward the contest (which was basically out of frame by the time the hit occured) and Parker hits him so hard that I cannot seriously buy the excuse of "shepard gone wrong" that some Swans fans are using.

No way was this a shepherd or any football act. It was talked about today on Fox footy with enhanced video showing the collision in close up. Josh was not involved in the play - he was about 15 metres from the ball jogging, Parker ran back past the footy, lined up Josh from about 20 meteres away then ran at him and picked him off. Smith had no idea it was coming, you could see clearly he was watching the play and had no chance to brace for the impact or protect himself.

Jon Ralph said he spoke to the club, and Josh will most likely miss the rest of the season. He has multiple facial fractures and concussion, and will have to undergo several operations to repair the damage.

There is a precedent from a few years ago when a Preston player broke Bailey Lambert's jaw in a practice match and I think but not sure, that he got 6 weeks, and Lambert was back playing in around 6 weeks. This is much much worse than that one, and given the AFL's policy on head injuries and concussion Parker should get a very lengthy holiday.

He's been sent straight to the tribunal on Monday night.

Considering Josh Smith is more than likely going to miss out on work and a significant amount of income due to his injuries, I'd hope Parker gets the book thrown at him. AFL players will be looked after by their clubs but for state league footballers who have jobs outside of football, injuries like this can have even worse consequences for them.

if that incident happened in an AFL game with the sycophantic media all over it, Parker would be out for a long stretch, because it happened in a VFL match I just wonder if it will not taken quite so seriously, playing the devil's advocate, i hope not - he should have the book thrown at him despite him being frustrated running around in the VFL when he wants to be playing AFL
