Do other posters have a preference for who wins? With how many AFL-listed players will be on both sides not sure I care who wins although I'll watch in the hopes of a good game.
I believe Box Hill had 17 listed AFL players last week. So only a handful of Box Hill 'Mustangs' . Its hard when it actually looks very much like a Reserve grade AFL Grand Final.
I'm hoping for a good crowd and close finish only really. It's a little tough for old school VFA die-hards to get too hyped about this one.
Hopefully next year being the 150th, we see the standalone VFA/VFL clubs really shine.
That's what I thought with all the AFL-listed players in both sides. I started watching the present-day VFL from an interest in footy history and therefore the VFA, so I don't care a great deal about this one either except that it is a game of footy that might well be close. Hawthorn AFL-lister Sam Butler is both injured and suspended after the prelim so it could be 16 AFL players for Box Hill this week, which would actually be 2 more than Geelong will likely have.
I'll be there on sunday. More of a social catch up. Cannot barrack for either team. If hawthorn loses to brisbane in afl which is a fair chance, it could be an ordinary weekend for the brown and gold. On saturday i'll be watching east ringwood v rowville at ringwood which will be of more interest and better to watch.
Game itself wasn't overly remarkable from what I saw. It's a shame honestly, that was an impressive crowd by VFL standards and if it had been a good contest it would have been a great showing for the league. Shows that the competition can draw strong crowds under the right circumstances.
Disappointing result in the VFLW too. As impressive as North's dominance has been these past few years, I get a very strong "the rich get richer" vibe from women's football which isn't actually good for the overall game. North have been so dominant in both the AFLW and VFLW that the actual season has often felt like a formality rather than a genuine contest, and local women's leagues are filled with blowouts where one team scores 80-100 points while their opposition will manage a single score at most.

* It's time to restore the VFA name.

7000 tickets sold for grand final day so far
I have very little interest in this grand final. At least Box Hill have some VFA heritage? But at the end of the day it's two reserves teams.
I might watch the VFLW, at least that game has a standalone club playing.
Yeah I think the VFLW game might also be the one that holds my interest too UTD
It'll be "Box Hill" for me mainly because I cannot stomach Geelong's senior coach with all his whingeing & grizzling !
We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Congratulations to Box Hill. The 'Stangers add another premiership during their Hawthorn alignment era.
Geelong never really looking like a chance.
What were people's thoughts on the game?
