NATHAN Ablett kicked two goals and showed some promise playing up forward and presenting as a ruck option in his VFL senior debut for Werribee in its comprehensive 79-point win over Sandringham at Avalon Airport Oval yesterday.
Ablett competed hard in a forward line comprising of Ben Warren (four goals), Ben Speight (three goals) and Lachie Hansen (two). North's Ben McKinley was goal-less but spent some time in defence
Majak Daw and Cameron Pedersen were also dominant in the second half.
At Frankston Oval, Frankston hung on for a thrilling draw with Williamstown to finally jump from the bottom of the ladder.
The Dolphins led by 37 points at three-quarter-time before the Seagulls surged home with the breeze at their back in the final term to avoid an embarrassing defeat. Justin Sherman kicked the equaliser late.
Dolphins coach Simon Goosey described the draw as ''heartbreaking'' after the side impressed for so much of the game against last year's grand finalist. The game ended 14.8 (92) to 13.14 (92).
Imposing forward Khan Haretuku kicked three goals for the Dolphins.
