GEELONG'S up and down VFL season continued when it was outgunned by Casey Scorpions at Casey Fields yesterday.

The Scorpions controlled the match, leading by 23 points at the main change before cruising home 16.15 (111) to 11.9 (75).

In a positive sign for the Cats, AFL-listed player Simon Hogan kept banging on the door for senior selection with a best-on-ground performance, while cool-headed defender Jeremy Laidler was impressive at a time when the Cats' defensive stocks continue to be tested at AFL level.

Former Werribee star James Podsiadly tried to keep Geelong in the game with four goals to be among his team's better players, while ruckman Trent West was also solid.
