GEELONG'S high-profile VFL recruit will make his first appearance for the Cats in today's practice match against Collingwood's VFL side at Skilled Stadium.

Key forward James Podsiadly will skipper the Cats side, which includes several AFL-listed players, including ruckmen Trent West and Shane Mumford, Nathan Djerrkura and Jeremy Laidler.

Podsiadly, last year's J.J. Liston Trophy winner, switched to the Cats late last year after spending six seasons with VFL rivals Werribee.

He was the VFL's leading goalkicker in 2005 and booted 86 goals for the Tigers last year, leading them to the preliminary final.

VFL coach Dale Amos said Podsiadly had been impressive since arriving at Skilled Stadium.
