NATHAN Thompson has defended his decision to put his media work ahead of his football. The Werribee forward, who has also joined the Tigers as forwards coach after 179 games for Hawthorn and North Melbourne, arrived 10 minutes into the first quarter at Williamstown last week after dashing from Richmond, where he was a panellist on Channel 9's Sunday Footy Show.
Thompson, who also works for SEN and is an ambassador for V/Line, did not kick a goal as Werribee lost by 66 points.
Thompson said his work and football commitments would clash at times.
"Not every week is going to be a mad rush. I'm locked into do the Sunday Footy Show until 1pm every Sunday," Thompson said. "Certainly the games where it clashes I probably won't be playing.
