Essendon are playing well and will have majority of crowd but expect casey to win especially if Melbourne knock off hawthorn.
Disappointing that Essendon couldn't get over the line I'll peg my hopes on Williamstown tomorrow!
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
If Williamstown dont make it I for one wont waste my time going to or bother watching the match.
If it is Hawtnorn seconds v Melbourne seconds it will pull a pretty poor crowd you woyld think. The AFL would be happy though.
In in the same boat Billy..no interest in watching two clubs that have given up their identity, jumper and even song go around on Grand Final day.
* It's time to restore the VFA name.
Don't think there's much danger of that,Willy should easily handle the Dawks now that Hawthorn are finished, irrespective of who plays it will be the lowest crowd ever as there is little or nointerest in 2nd tier football nowadays.
If you need further evidence of the esteem our once grand comp is now held read what Bernie Vince said in the article on the right hand side, quote,"we're in a [VFL}final so we may as well try and win it"
Compromised comp,?you betcha.
I attended the Ammo's Division C Grand final Fitzroy v. Old Geelong yesterday at TBBO, I was amazed at the size of the crowd and on a bitterly cold day also, the Sandy social club was totally packed at half-time, could barely move. And there would easily have been 100 people at the 3/4 time Fitzroy huddle.
Fot the record Fitzroy won by 70 points, and won the seconds also in a thriller, on to Division B next year.
I went to boronia to watch lilydale v doncaster east gf. Ordinary weather but still healthy crowd. For donny east they had brock mclean, batsanis, vojo rainbow and simon white. Far bigger bodies than lilydale and won easy after a tight first half. Box hill picked birchall to play limited minutes. Sums up box hill and the system. No offense to birchall but makes a mockery of selections. His first game in 14 months. Go SEAGULLS !!!!!!
Really there should be no excuse to get a good crowd at the GF no matter who is playing with NO AFL football in Melboure from Friday night and most local leagues finished for the season.!
It will depend on how much pre game PR the VFL (sic) gets.
I see the Snow Dogs/ St Bernards College won the Premier B at Elstenwick Park - Brightons VFA former ground. It would have looked great as they play in a jumper almsot the same as Sandringhams.
Billy i wonder how many hawthorn supporters will be trekking to north port oval today. Since Melbourne knocked them out on friday night i would suspect that there will be far fewer attending. Haven't watched yesterday's casey v essendon replay. What was the crowd like and were they pro essendon crowd ?
