Aj unfortunately Frankstons list is finalised therefore they won't be getting any of those lost players back. I say unfortunate because I would love to see a strong Frankston and I believe the league could do with a strong dolphins. Could you imagine Kars st with a thriving side, ground would have a real buzz. Having said all that I still think you have a very good opportunity in playing finals this year, 1st time since 2006 ? I think it will come down to your match v Coburg. Id like to see Frankston in the top 4.

The clubs should have a list size brought up to 50 so we could get another half a dozen players from local leagues.

* It's time to restore the VFA name.

Nice sentiment MegaA.....but they wouldn't stay beyond this season anyway. The big local clubs have more money than the Dolphins, and the unfortunate truth of footy today is that money talks more than the prestige of competition. That's why we've had such a massive turnover of players for the past 10 years. I keep hearing how these blokes love playing for Frankston, yet a couple of years is generally the best we get from them.

Completely agree with NorthPort, the standalone clubs should have some sort of crack at all these available players.....otherwise I think it's a massive advantage to the aligned clubs. There's some really exceptional talent out there in both suburban and country footy clubs who won't be fielding sides this year.

The AFL are not interested in whats happening with the VFL so theres not much chance of topping up players at this stage. My mail is the only reason the VFL is going ahead this year is because the VFL clubs pushed very very hard to get it going, and we would have got the same result as the sheilas if was left to the AFL. Pushed to the back of the queue then given a token round robin tournament. McGilligan - like all his Liberal Party mates, is only interested in the top end of town.

Its a win win, to let the clubs top up and extend their lists. A great opportunity to help out some young footballers who arent going to play this year to get a guernsey in a better comp, get some great experience and put themselves on display.

The only one not interested in this is the  AFL.

I see that the Leaders Newspapers have but blocks on the articles as they after money just to read articles.
Herald Slime/Herald Snot which were normally delivered for free in local areas are now online to subscribers via the Herald Sun Rag. . What next ?? As for Gilligan it is all about AFL and his own pockets. The VFL clubs had several meetings and kept at it to get this season to go ahead. Well done to the eight VFA clubs At least we have something to look forward to and by August 1 crowds should be all good. I can almost taste that first beer !! Should be an action packed seven rounds and no doubt some hard fought and physical clashes. Looking forward to it.

Well what do you expect from the AFL which is still the AFL clubs?

They have never really cared much about the VFA/VFL apart it being a cheap reserves comp. Now that is not in play they would have zero interest in what the VFA/VFL does

.Heres a radical move why dont the eight former VFA clubs bring in another couple of strong surburban teams and reform as the VFA next year?

Bring in Vermont and 3 other strong suburban teams. Loved to see that Billy as well as the VFA name back.

Blackrocker the puffing Billy footy day most likely between rounds 4 and 5 vfl weekend of the bye. As long as the Yarra valley league games go ahead. Paradise hotel is now re opened. If the actual puffing Billy is not running by then it will be train to belgrave, local bus to clematis and bus to the footy. All aboard!!!

Aj - local clubs have more money than the dolphins ? Is that due to what happened a few years ago ? Id imagine turnover would be a lot greater at the dolphins with greater crowds, sponsorship etc etc.

As for players playing in other comps instead of the prestige of the VFL - unfortunately in Aus 2nd tier comps don't have the prestige they deserve any longer. Was looking at a Brunswick home and away clip from the 80s, boy back then their certainly was a heap of prestige in the comp, packed to the rafters !!!

Billy I think your idea is the only viable option for next year as the AFL has already stated that they don't want their clubs playing against ours. Perhaps a 12 team comp, maybe a new Bendigo, Ballarat and 2 others. Could we see Preston back in 21 ???

Just a little conundrum for people to think about. 7 rounds means that 4 sides will only have 3 home games whilst the others have 4. In order to be fair how do you decide on who misses out on the extra home game ? My thinking is Port should miss out as they will most likely be the chosen finals venue, Coburg are the nomads this season without a home ground therefore 3 games at their make shift home may be preferable and make things easier for them. Id say the other 2 that miss out on the 4th home game should be the 2 that need a home game the least, ie the 2 financially better off clubs.
