Extension beyond next Thursday is shorter than kojaks hair LOL. Ballarat football league have canned the remainder of their season. Will be a struggle for all local leagues. They might have to go straight to finals or even grand final if need to. With vfl they will be desperate to get the final round out of the way. Not sure if this will happen next weekend in lockbourne unless they can sweet talk their way.
Likely Round 19 Fixture - if it goes ahead
21 new cases today - 10 out in the community while infectious. Numbers aren't coming down yet so looks like no hope of the final round being played to me. First week of the finals probably unlikely at this stage.
Not much hope for final round. Rough chance at best for following week. If they miss a few weeks they could just play top two footscay v Southport grand final at Southport? What a mess for all local footy in Victoria. There has to be a grand final and premiership awarded in each comp. In metro leagues finals and even grand finals without crowds ???
Youve predicted correctly in the past Bearsman, i reckon you are right again. All this trouble with cases in the east of Aus makes you wonder if this competition should go ahead next year. My thinking is it should as by then we should be living a life of normality with the over whelming majority of the population vacinated and life you would expect should go on as we once knew it.

If the powers that be stick to their word and the plan to open everything up at 70% vaccination, and they are all saying that should happen by November/December, footy should be okay for next year. Not sure that will be the case in Victoria though - Andrews was questioned this week about finishing lockdowns and he said that 70% is not high enough, then went on to say that it should be quite a bit higher than 80%. Bit of a worry...
Quite a bit higher than 80 ? That is a worry, what is quite a bit higher than 80 - 90% ? Is that even attainable? Theirs a section of the community that will never get vacinated. My opinion is once everybody has had a decent opportunity to get vacinated then open up as people have all had the opportunity to arm themselves and you cant put business owners and families through economic stress forever.
Mega, our puffing Billy footy day for next week is a million to one as reckon lockdown will be extended another week or two. I am keen to organise a local footy game possibly a grand final. We can get most of the Billy crew. If we are allowed I'll check all options on the local footy scene.
Hopefully its just more fear mongering from Andrews - National Cabinet (he is part of that) agreed on 70%, so we should expect it to be the case, although with a State election next year he wont be wanting to lose control of the virus again, so he may play hardball until then.
What if vaccinations dont work as expected? Our Governments, both Federal and State, seem to be expecting us to blindly believe them that this is the answer. I read that although Iceland is 91% vaccinated they have had to go into lockdown. I hope thats not true - who could stand another year or more of this torture?
I did read the article about iceland. Nothing is certain. If true there is no certainty in anything. The way I look at it just enjoy going to the footy, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, watching bands, catching up with friends and fill up the weekends when we can. Get out of the house and enjoy. Just hope I can get to a footy game in next few weeks. Love to watch some local grand finals.
