Body:
It seems to me as an observer of the VFA now VFL for over 60 years that the current state of affairs is the worst the competition has seen since the dark days of the 1950s.If it wasnt for the ABC TV matches very few people in Victoria would even know the VFL existed.
The sudden departure of both Gannon and Stillman has left a vacuum that in no way has been filled by people of passion for the history and origins of our oldest Australian Football competition.
Being led by people at the top without passion and commitment to long term goals and improvement no organization can survive for long. This directionless will eventually filter down to the grass roots club helpers and supporters and many will drift away.IE Go check the Bigfooty VFL site and see the very small number of participants that bother to comment on VFL matters.
Maybe the AFL/VFL just want the VFA/VFL to wither and die so they gain complete control over all aspects of our game in Victoria.
So what does the longterm future hold for this Comp?
