Reserves Elim Final Change
This week's elimination final in the ressies between Werribee and Box Hill will now be player at Werribee ( Chirnside Park) at 2pm on Saturday. Huge blow for the Hawk supporters who were intending on tearing over the the G after the game at Port in order to farewell Nick Holland and see Hawthorn's last game of the year. Follow your hearts guys , doubt very much it will be held against you either way.

Just when I thought the VFL couldn't be more idiotic in its fixturing.  What is the reason for this? Is it because the Werribee boys have to go up to Bendigo on Friday night? If so, it's just another reason why the decision is an utter farce.

That is a joke, so now there is no curtain raiser at Port on Saturday. However, given Werribee would've had staff who have to travel to Bendigo on Friday night, will probably not get home until after midnight, then have to show up the next day at Port for a 10.20am start, the decision is reasonable.

Unbelievably shocking decision. Bewildering in the extreme.

Sucks to be a VFL fan right now. The VFL got themselves into a predicament when they organised a final on a Friday night and Box Hill suffers the consequences. Either way, I'll now miss either the final game of a good Hawks season and the farewell of Dutchy, or possibly the last Box Hill ressies game of the season. What to do, what to do.... Chirnside Park is a dump too just quietly. Sack the VFL board, sack the board, sack the board.

And if you think finishing 3rd last is a "good season" then that probably sums up what's wrong with Hawthorn. ......and really, the reserves just have to fit in. This is a senior competition and Box Hill should just be grateful to be there. (...................and yes, Dolphin is not happy!)

The reserves are an important part of the breeding ground within the VFL, just look at the number of players that have made the step from the ressies to the seniors this year. The VFL doesn't place enough importance upon the reserves competition in terms of attracting crowds and so on. I know I'll be at Chirnside Park, but meh.

Jeez , what's got up your nose dolphin ?? I can assure you that Box Hill is very thankful it got there.....er , how did we do that again ? Oh yeah , that's right , we wone more games by greater margins than the sides below us......amazing luck that. Probably unfair too eh ? As for matty , he's been a volunteeer at Box Hill for several years now after a lifetime ( albeit a short one !!) of following his beloved Hawthorn. Think he has earned the right to be disappointed at the clash I reckon. Despite what some people like to cling to , this IS a competition that incorporates the AFL clubs. Take a pill dolphin and enjoy Tassie .....

Don't worry about Dolphin's attitude on the reserves. His club plays with a limited bench and hands the opposition four points most weeks ;) Although they did knock Box Hill over two weeks ago...how will you field a side this week in the ressies at Box Hill with the injuries?

You both missed the point! The fact that Hawthorn is playing is a probelm for Box Hill, not the VFL. And I do give a stuff about the reserves, it just that it is SECONDARY to the seniors. It is a breeding ground and that's certainly the way it should be. I accept that it would be better for the seconds and the seniors to be playing on the same day, but the problem with Bendigo, who havnt won a game for 6 weeks, being guaranteed a home final above Frankston is the joke, and its a bigger problem than stuffing up a seconds fixture. Do you undeerstand now?

I'd presume the only reason the Bendigo final is Friday night is due to the ground being unavailable over the weekend? If this is the case then the VFL is breaking one of the guidelines that they set out in the footy record two weeks ago.
