Reserves Preliminary Final - Williamstown V North Ballarat
Shapes up as a bueaty, with back-to-back (nods to Dale :) Premiers Williamstown taking on a the Roosters, who will be looking to salvage something from the season after being knocked out of the Seniors finals race. Some turmoil at North over the week, with the news that Senior Coach Wright will not have his contract renewed past this season... Difficult to tell what effect this will have (if any) on the Roosters. Will Williamstown be too good on the day? I think so, even if the weather is poor.

A great effort by the Seagulls once again to make the Grand Final once again. I have been told that and AFL player that qualifies for the VFL by playing 7 games is allowed to play in the Reserves side even though they havent played 7 in the two's. I thought this was incorrect, but I have heard it from two different people now. Can anyone confirm this? If so, Port would have about 4 AFL listed players able to play against the 'Towners.

It was a good game today. Seagulls had 4 Magpies play (Hall, Leonard, Fanning, Benson). Williamstown forward Salesi Uhi had an ice pack strapped to his shoulder after going off late in the game. They'd be hoping its nothing serious as his physicality is important. It will be very interesting next Sunday.

I forgot to say one of my highlights of the year happened at 3/4 time today. Willy coach Anthony Eames speech at 3/4 time was unusual because he dropped the word "F***" about 50 times. A lot of the fans were trying not to laugh. It was rediculous really.

The Kangaroos website also seems to indicate there is a loophole.
Port into Grand Final 10:28:23 AM Mon 13 September, 2004 Matt Harrington kangaroosfc.com.au Port Melbourne have progressed to the VFL Grand Final on the back of outstanding performance by Kangaroos rover Jeremy Clayton. Clayton was best-on-ground in the ‘Borough’s 28-point win against the Box Hill Hawks on Saturday at Teac Oval. Other Kangaroo-listed players to perform well in the preliminary final were Blake Grima, David Hale, John Baird and Ben Robbins. Eddie Sansbury also proved his worth up forward snagging two goals. Port Melbourne now meet Sandringham, who are aligned with Melbourne, in the premiership play-off at Optus Oval next Sunday. The Kangaroos have 17 players who are available for selection, but under VFL rules only 12 can play in the finals series. However, the ‘Borough’s reserves side is in the grand final also which will see the five Kangaroos not selected in the seniors lining up in that match.
I might contact the VFL tomorrow regarding the rules in this situation.
