Northern Bullants V Frankston
Dropped in at Port today to have a look.... Pretty good game in swirling wwindy conditions....left at 3/4 time and listened to the last 1/4 on SEN... Great to meet the organiser of the tipping comp George...and leave the bar at Port nearly $400-00 better off Great to see Edwards get his 100... Great to see Frankston go out..... Just need Collingwood to lose tomorrow and it makes for a good weekend with both Frankston and Collingwood losing...doesn't get much better than that!.. Be interesting to see what Frankston come up with next year as they were supremely confident of going all the way this year...

I dont think a VFL stand alone club will ever win a flag as when the chips are down in the finals the AFL players are always going to be better.

Zebraman, you are extremely harsh. Frankston put up a great effort today but couldn't quite finish it off. Well done to Aaron Edwards on becoming the 1st Frankston to kick 100 goals in a season. 1st since Shayne Smith in 1997.

Robbo...that's what final are all about...no prizes for coming 2nd..if that's harsh...then so be it...if Sandy go out next week then that's harsh for them too... I would suggest to you that in this forum in particular...there was a lot of over confidence regarding Frankston's chances this year...I sat back and watched a lot of the posts in here thinking..maybe Frankston are getting a kittle bi ahead of themselves here...things like the Bullants will go out in straight sets etc... But congratulations to Edwards for getting the 100 goals...he certainly deserves the Frost Miller medal....I'm tipping he will get drafted later this year....he has pace....good mark...good kick...quite a few AFL teams could use someone like him...

Although it was mostly the Port supporters pumping up Frankston. Football is all about premierships. Therefore, this season has not been a success. But the groundwork continues to be set. Looking forward to 2007. After a 2's premiership of course!!

I thought Frankston were excellent and I hope they can keep building. There's certainly some young talent there - Mariglani, Burns, Poole (he's a gusty kid), Krakouer, Rebeschini (what a lovely kick of the ball) and Cadd. Burns might have played himself on to a list. I think he actually played CHF at times today. For the Bullants, I thought Bannister was terrific across half-back. It's interesting the way Harford or another midfielder covers for him and he just rolls off as a spare man. Bronik Davies (who never got on in the first half) kicked a couple of crucial goals and Archie Deluca was good at both ends. But they'll need to lift to beat Sandy. By the way, have umpiring standards dropped this year? It was a patchy today.

Wouldn't mind seeing Frankston take out the reserves flag....be a nice change from Willy who I think dominated recently

Frankston a chance for the reserves. Looked a tight game after Willy got off to a good start. Seagull reserves fading as the season progressed. Don't agree the AFL players will always do better when the chips are down. In 2003, West noticably stood out in defence for Willy in the Prelim agst Pt Melb, and Fletcher Lloyd and Mahoney more effective than McGough, Betheras and McKee throughout. Then there's all those Sandy listed players who do well.

Thought the game was terrific considering it was played in tough conditions,Frankston gallant in defeat against a slighly more polished opponent. I know Edwards got his ton but was a bit surprised he played after seeing him come into the ground with a very pronounced limp,he just didn't seem right, didn't jump like he normally does. In the ressies Frankston had their chance,Willy were rattled just 11 points up kicking against a 4 or 5 goal wind going into the last quarter but were outscored 4 goals to 2. Hope Geelong and Nth Ballarat have a gut buster today and belt the daylights out of each other.
