Box Hill Hawks will not be running reserves this year. But it will be fielding a “development†team.
“The word ‘reserves’ can have negative connotations for young blokes,†Bolton said. “They’re measuring themselves as playing senior footy in the VFL and when they’re being called ‘reserves’ they can take it as a negative thing. So we’re saying they’re in the development team, because that’s exactly what they’re doing, developing their footy.â€
