Northcote played Sunshine in the first ever VFA game televised in colour in 1975.
I'd like to challenge that one, vfa.

I reckon the first ever VFA game that Channel 0 televised in colour was Box Hill v Camberwell, same season.

2nd division used to start 2 weeks before 1st division, so Chanel 0 used to cover a couple of 2nd division games at the start of the season.

Looks like we might have to drag out a 1975 fixture to see who played in Round 1!
If I was at home I could confirm that in a heartbeat. My tip is that Northcote Sunshine was first and Box Hill Camberwell was the next week. The VFA obviously picked games with colour.
In 1976 they showed Northcote and Sunsine again, but in round 2 after they showed Frankston Waverley in round 1.
Of course, we didnt get a colour TV until about 1978, which may have been the last year they showed Div 2 games.

The first game was Northcote v Sunshine on 6 April with Sunshine winning.

The second game was Box Hill v Camberwell on 13 April and the scores were:
Box Hill 11.14 80
Camberwell 14.21 105
Umpire was Noel O'Brien, who I'd commented on as lousy.

I have a paper poster with VFA Logo and images of logos of 22 clubs - missing are Moorabbin and Berwick - labeled "Have a great V.F.A. Sunday".

I had it laminated and it adorns a wall here at home. That is in addition to badges and stickers for Camberwell and Caulfield.

The poster must have come out in 1982, as there were 22 teams that year, and then Moorabbin and Berwick joined in 1983. The first game in 1983 Moorabbin memorably unfurled its 1963 FIRST division flag. Of course, Moorabbin were booted out prior to the 1964 season for allowing St Kilda use of its ground.

What was with Sunshine not having a nickname on there? (not to mention the terribly 80's logo..)

Did they ditch the Crows at some point?

Sunshine were always the crows. They had the jumper with a squigly s on the front for a couple of seasons only to revert back to the original jumper which is similat to North Ballarat.

Looks like you have a mild infection of multiple posting. If you don't take care you will end up like the boy from Frankston.

P.S. I drove past Skinner Reserve earlier today, looks a lot better than in the old days.

Almost identical to the Roosters traditional strip, but I am not sure as to whether they were black & white or a very dark navy & white.
