"IT WON'T happen overnight but it will happen," Port Melbourne coach Gary Ayres reassured supporters after an under-strength Borough went down to a fleet-of-foot-and-hand Williamstown by 28 points at Burbank Oval on Saturday.
The loss leaves Port (2-2) just outside the eight.
Ayres said there would be six changes for this Saturday's clash against undefeated Sandringham on Sunday at TEAC Oval.
Against the Gulls, Port found it difficult to hold down Ben Davies, who broke the magical 40-possession mark with 41 and a goal, and Brett Johnson (27 possessions, two goals).
Ryan McMahon was moved on to the former Hawthorn and Carlton midfielder after he had five touches in the first three minutes.
Add six to that in the last 10 minutes and Ayres was happy with the move.
