THE City of Casey denies there is a drainage problems at Casey Fields.
The Scorpions’ ground was in a deplorable condition against Sandringham in Round 9, with mud patches and pools of water near the centre. But City of Casey parks and reserves manager Trevor Griffin said there was no issue with drainage.
“Since April this year the ground has had nearly 300 millimetres of rainfall, which has been one of the wettest periods since the ground was built,†Griffin said. “Much of the rainfall has taken place during the time when games are taking place, which tends to increase impact on the ground.
Council implements a regular program of slicing and aerating the surface, which assists the underground drainage network in removing water from the ground. This program has been increased during the wet months to maintain the ground’s surface.â€
