What game is this? No mention of it anywhere. My guess is it is possibly netball, but only thanks to the last sentence.

GFL WRAP: South Barwon focus on the top of the ladder

SEVENTH placed Lara managed to ruffle the feathers of reigning premiers South Barwon despite the Swans comfortable 43-goal victory on Saturday.

The Cats got off to a sluggish start on home turf and against a Swans outfit that coach Heath Brown yesterday said is starting to hit its straps.

Lara scored a mere three goals in the opening quarter as the Swans entered the second with a 15-goal advantage in what looked like a formula victory.

But Lara capitalised on the Swans' mistakes and picked up the pace in the second quarter, which it lost by a mere goal.

"It wasn't really anything they changed up differently in their defensive line-up. I think their front line just started to convert more goals," Brown said.

"At half time we looked at a few problem areas. I think we started to rush it in the second quarter after they put a few goals on the scoreboard in quick succession. We tried to match them for pace instead of slow and steady, which worked in the first quarter."

South Barwon scored 19 goals to Lara's seven in the third quarter, which set them up for the fourth. The Swans are third on the ladder but Brown hopes to improve on that in the next seven rounds.

"The girls are not that content at third on the ladder," he said. "They have their sights on finishing definitely top two and that's where I want them to get back to."
