FRANKSTON coach Simon Goosey said a 10-minute lapse at the start of the third quarter thwarted the Dolphins' quest for a boilover win against reigning premier North Ballarat on Saturday.
The Roosters, inspired by North Melbourne star Leigh Harding, pounced to kick four goals in the third term and forge clear for a 29-point win, 11.9 (75) to 6.10 (46).
"Apart from that (10-minute period), we outscored them," Goosey said.
"We played some really good football.
"We've matched it with the top four sides now, and it's just that inexperience that has cost us."
Goosey said Frankston's competitive, yet fruitless, season was becoming frustrating.
"I suppose we're beyond saying it's a good effort," he said.
"We just have to win now. The boys know. We've played some really good football, but we have to make sure we win.

"Now it's time for us to get the four points and get a bit of reward for the effort we've put in."
Goosey said Frankston was capable of winning "a couple" of games before season's end.
Mark Baguley, Russell Gabriel, Mitch Bosward, Shane Hockey and Scott Sienkiewicz were Frank-ston's best.
