THE bookmakers were spot on, eventually. The Werribee Tigers were, in fact, a sure bet in week one of the Victorian Football League finals.
The short-priced favourite Tigers overcame a player-drained Box Hill Hawks to win the elimination final by 26 points at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday.
But Tigers captain Dom Gleeson said it was not the walk in the park the bookies were predicting.
"We made a meal of it. We fumbled and made some pretty bad decisions throughout the game. I wouldn't say it was comfortable."
