THE football Gods are smiling on us this week. They are saying "let there be one more western suburbs derby" in the Victorian Football League to determine who rules the roost on the western side of the bridge.

The stakes don't get any bigger for bitter rivals Werribee Tigers and Williamstown Seagulls on Sunday at TEAC Oval.

This high-profile preliminary final holds summer-long bragging rights for the winner and a berth in the 2011 grand final.

Williamstown will head into the preliminary final as favourite having won the previous two derbies in the home-and-away rounds.

The Seagulls reached this point by crushing North Ballarat in week one of the finals and had the luxury of a week's rest heading into the game. They were one of the best two sides in the competition during the regular season.
