Galea or Rose to kick the winning goal after the bell to give Port a 1 point win.

Go the Mighty Borough.

Meeting at the Great Western Hotel at midday on Sunday for a pre Grand Final ale plus counter meal. To all Port Melbourne, Williamstown and all other old VFA diehards see you at midday. Should be a big day with the two oldest VFA rivals playing in the Grand Final for the first time since 1964.

Get OFF the Borough bandwagon Rooster !!!
It's my tip that the Willydogs are going to go into this game as favourites which is hard to believe against a team that hasn't lost a game for the season.
Be interesting to see if the punters agree.
Port certainly deserve to win after an incredible year, but not all fairytales have a happy ending.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Wrong again Digs.......
Port are about $1.75. Willy $2.35.
I know a couple of blokes that are very happy with Willy's price & are taking a truck load down to get on.

My god I hope Port can do it!
If I wasn't working I would break my ban and attend this one, all my thoughts and wishes to all at Burra land on the day.
And yes I think they will win 1 point will do.

I hope Port win but have a sneaking suspicion that Willy might just get up on the day.Anyway for old VFA fans like me its a grand final for the ages.

I just hope the Melbourne sports media get behind this game so a decent crowd turns up.

FFS the CH 9 Footy Show had fading soccer star Kewell on last week and thats promoting a rival code thats sole aim is to get rid of Australian Football.

Are you making the trek to the GF Billy ?
If so you should drop into the Great Western on the way through.
Should be a cracker of a game. I do hope that the clowns that run the VFL get of their backsides and plug this game to the hill.
They should be plugging it on the footy show but I bet you they don't.
The way it has panned out the dream Grand Final has finally arrived where arch rivals Port and Williamstown slug it out. These two teams have a longer rivalry than Carlton and Collingwood which only dates back to 1892.
Superb summary by the bloke on bigfooty. Well spotted brekky dj.

Here it is in text format :

For the first time since 1964, possibly the greatest and oldest rivals in the history of Australian Rules Football will meet in the VFL Grand Final

Port Melbourne versus Williamstown (Sunday 2.15pm, Etihad Stadium)

Despite the early lack of promotion, this Grand Final should be the dream of anyone in PR/Media... so many story lines... the ultimate fairytale.

Consider these facts...

Port Melbourne a stand-alone team are UNDEFEATED this season
Williamstown are the inaugural winners of the Foxtel Cup
Port Melbourne has beaten Williamstown TWICE this year, including the famous 5 point win where the ABC stopped their coverage early
Williamstown have not been able to play at 'home' due to redevelopment (playing instead at Werribee, Torquay & Wangaratta and Keilor)
Port Melbourne players are part-timers who train 6 hours per week at a ground that's had no serious redevelopment since 1948!
Williamstown will feature at least 15 AFL listed Bulldog players
Port Melbourne has the back-to-back Liston Medalist, Shane Valenti
Williamstown have bombed out in 3 of the last 4 year's preliminary finals
Two of the VFL's leading goal kickers are Patrick Rose and Dean Gaela of Port Melbourne... who both use to play for Williamstown!
When they last met in the VFA (VFL) Grand Final 1964, Port Melbourne were victorious... prior to that Williamstown beat Port Melbourne three times in a row! 1954-55-56
Both sides share the title of the VFA/VFL's most successful club(s) with 15 flags a piece
The Grand Final will be played on the home ground of Williamstown's AFL partner, the Western Bulldogs (Etihad Stadium)
Port Melbourne is coached by Norm Smith Medallist and 5 time Hawthorn Premiership player, Gary Ayres, who has had the Borough finish in the top 4 each year of his 4 years at the club.
Williamstown is coached by two time WAFL premiership coach and former North Melbourne footballer, Peter German

Would be sweeter if that goal after the siren was at a replay match, the week after, and the result of a 50m penalty.

I'm not fussed who wins; I want to see a cracker of a contest
