Woodville-West Torrens have toppled Central District by 3 points in a heart stopping SANFL Grand Final at AAMI Stadium today. The Eagles led by as much as 32 points going into time on of the 3rd quarter and 24 points at 3 quarter time before a amazing comeback from the Bulldogs when Doggie Lee Spurr narrowly missed a shot at goal the siren went moments later to give the Eagles their 3rd premiership and 1st since 2006. This was also the last time Central District lost a grand final.
Eagles 12-9(81) to Central District 11-12(78) win was built from a great start when they led by 3 goals at Quarter Time. From there the Eagles held their nerve until the last quarter comeback by the Bulldogs.
Eagles ruckman Craig Parry was named Jack Oatey medallist as best on the ground.
The Eagles win gives coach Michael Godden a premiership in just his 2nd season as coach. Also gave Leigh Treeby a fantastic going home present as he prepares to head home to Victoria.
