Jim Stynes

It was sad to hear about Jim Stynes loosing his battle with cancer. If you were a old VFA supporter you would remember Jim was sent by Melbourne Football Club to play with Prahan in the VFA in 1986 to learn how to play Aussie Rules Football before he carved out a great career in VFL/AFL team Melbourne.I remember him playing against Port Melbourne that year. Also his brother Brian played 2 games for Melbourne in 1992 and came to Port Melbourne as a forward in 1993 and played only that year then went back to Ireland to play Gaelic Football. RIP Jimmy Stynes!!!!

Go Borough! 2012

Yes Bobby a nice piece.
I can never remember a person who had so much so much individual respect & was universaly loved, not only in football but in life in general.
A true warrior.
May he rest in peace.

We might be from the bush. but we ain't green

Good to see your interest Jamesh.
There are plenty of regular posters with great knowledge of the old VFA. Don't hesitate in asking any questions.
Billy the Kid could tell you who played in Round 3 in 1926 and what the scores were. He is not that old but he sure knows his history. Wealth of knowledge.
CGull, Black Rocker, Bobby Borough, Jason Borough, Digs, Cobrascorer, Lum, Zebraman, Zebra as well as a few others know there stuff. JB can tell, you anything you want to know about the seagulls as can Wally, Burbank.

cheers vfa

love the retro VFA emblems too. I think that adds to its appeal. The jumpers, nicknames & logos arent basic like the AFL, SANFL or WAFL.

It seems Northcote played in a reverse Wooville jumper (yellow/green yoke)
